“Beside the Bay” is a newly renovated (2019) ground floor apartment, looking out over Kames Bay beach and the hills behind.
Originally part of a grocer’s shop, this compact apartment was converted from its commercial use in the 1950s. The building dates back to 1830, and is Category C listed, as the little terrace is typical of the type of building often constructed on the West coast of Scotland.
Now it is a comfortable bolt hole for two, ( a couple) and comprises of a living room/ kitchen, which looks out to the Bay, a bedroom, with an ensuite shower room. ( Please note this is the only bathroom) . There’s a log burner, and efficient panel heaters on timers, to keep you warm.
Bed linen, towels and electricity are of course included in your price, as in all our apartments.
There’s a pretty shared garden to the rear, with some seating. A single dog is very welcome , but please note that as there’s no gate between garden and road, dogs must be kept on a lead as they access the garden, or when leaving the apartment. We suggest Beside the Bay is ideal for a short break of three or four nights. It’s compact nature means that storage is limited, so best to think of it as a beach pod or Shepherd’s Hut! If you’re looking to spread out a bit more, Cosy Corner may be better. Need an enclosed garden for the dog? Why not book Rose Cottage instead.But if being able to walk right across the road to the beach, or have a sea view as you enjoy breakfast is the very thing you’re looking for, then Beside the Bay might be perfect.
The apartment is ideal for those arriving via public transport- there’s a bus stop just a few minutes walk away. Please note that this apartment is right on the road which leads from ferry to the town, and particularly in summer there will be some island traffic passing . It’s under ten minutes walk to the nearest cafe, chip shop and a handy paper shop selling milk etc .
